Handicap Race Series 2018

Race 1 start times

A great fun and social club event where anyone could be the winner and win prizes! Six races run over the same demanding course with runners setting off at staggered times depending on running ability; the slowest first and the fastest last with the aim that everyone finishes at about the same time.

Race category prizes are presented in the bar after each run* and series category prizes are awarded after the last race with a commemorative gift for all eligible members (please see race rules below).

£2.50 per adult (or £10 for the whole series payable on or before the first race) • £1 for juniors per race (juniors must be at secondary school to enter the Junior course and at least 15 to run the adult course)

Junior prize presentation: approx. 8.10pm in the clubhouse after the senior race
Senior prize presentation: approx. 8.45pm in the bar over a drink or two!
*Please note prizes are only available for collection in person at the presentation after the race

Series race rules:

  • Strictly fully paid active club members only
  • As this is a club event and to help marshals identity runners please wear club colours, not our race t-shirts
  • To complete the series and place in the overall series results you need to run four of the six races**
  • You will be eligible for a commemorative gift if:
    You pay £10 up front for the whole series by race 1 and run/marshal any number of races.
    You run and/or marshal a total combination of four races, however your name must be on the official marshal rota before the race you help at.
  • The vets team for ladies and men starts at age 45

**For those who run all six races the best four times count towards the final results so your final placing is likely to be higher.

Marshals needed

We need marshals (and other helpers) for this event to go ahead. A marshal list will be put up in the clubhouse and ideally we would like this full by the Tuesday before the race. If we do not have enough marshals on any of the evenings the race may not be able to go ahead! We also encourage you to marshal one race.
