10k pre-race information

Below is the 10k pre-race email that was sent to runners on Wednesday 1 September. Please note all the below information will also be in your race pack which should be received in the post on approximately Monday 6 September.

Dear Bideford 10k participant,

Bideford AAC look forward to welcoming you to our Bideford 10k on Sunday 12 September. Race Packs and numbers will be sent out shortly and should be arriving with you around 6 September. Race place transfers are now closed.

We anticipate that the clubhouse will be available for changing facilities and showers, baggage store, refreshments including the bar and prize presentation at approximately 12.30pm. However, this may change should COVID-19 guidelines change.

COVID-19

Please remember to undertake a self-assessment for COVID-19 on the day of the race, and we encourage you to take a lateral flow test on that morning. Do not travel to or attend the event if you test positive, have been contacted to self-isolate, have any COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has.

When visiting the clubhouse, it is encouraged to check-in using the NHS QR code poster with the NHS COVID-19 app or by providing name and contact details (after 21 days details will be destroyed, see the Bideford AAC Privacy Policy). In respect of others, it is appreciated that face coverings are worn while moving around all communal areas in the clubhouse and bar.

Race information

The race start will be at the entrance of Riverbank car park which is close to the Bideford Amateur Athletic Club clubhouse, please assemble here by 10.20am, with the race starting at 10:30am.

When on the road to Instow, please run on the left-hand side and never more than two abreast. On the Tarka Trail, please be considerate of members of the public and stay single file when passing. For more information on the race, course and facilities, please read the 10k Programme.

A polite reminder, to help look after the local area, please do not dispose of water bottles, gel wrappers or any other litter on the road or the Tarka Trail, pass to a marshal or take home with you.

As per our race rules Bideford AAC will be enforcing no music headphones or earphones (including bone conducting versions) during the race. This is for your safety, that of other runners and members of the public as you will be running on open roads and a public trail. If a marshal sees a runner wearing headphones or earphones the runner’s number will be noted and they will be removed from the results.

Medals and T-shirts

All finishers receive a T-shirt and medal; medals will be presented at the finish, and T-shirts collected from the clubhouse before or after the race; we aim to supply the size requested, but they are not guaranteed. T-shirts can only be substituted after all finishers have received their T-shirts; please do not ask our volunteers for an exchange before this time.

And finally, Bideford AAC looks forward to welcoming you on race day.

Best wishes
